A day at the Underwood Family Farms

Just 1.5 hours from Manhattan Beach is a farm that is just a delight for adults and children alike. A couple years ago, we made our way to the Underwood Family Farms for their annual Easter Springtime Festival.

Where: Moorpark Location 3370 Sunset Valley Road Moorpark, CA 93021

They had so many awesome things going on. Lots of farm animals and Easter eggs everywhere, opportunities to pick your own vegetables, farm rides, and basket decoration.

A rose quartz facial combines standard skin care steps with the use of smooth rose quartz tools to massage the face. The appointment usually includes cleansing, exfoliation, extractions, a mask, serums, and moisturizer, and then the cool quartz is moved along the cheeks, jawline, and under-eye area. The stone stays naturally cool, which helps reduce puffiness and support circulation, and the rose-based products add a light rose scent that you notice most during the mask.

I had one done recently, and it was exactly that sequence: a thorough cleanse, blackhead removal, a gentle scrub, eyes covered under the light, rose-scented mask, then the quartz tools across my face and around my eyes. I plan to stay makeup-free for a few days and let my skin breathe. Walking into this hall, I knew this workshop was going to ask more of me than just showing up physically. Over these days at Sedona Mago, we moved through breath work, Qigong movement, and a lot of honest introspection about what we carry from the past and what we are willing to release. Some moments were quiet and reflective, others were full of laughter, dance, and real connection.

The focus was simple but not easy: have the courage to let go of what no longer serves you, and be strong enough to believe in your future without dragging old weight forward. I left feeling more aware of my own resilience and more responsible for how I take care of my body, emotions, and energy.

There were 13 of us in this group, and the level of trust we built made this experience what it was. Without that sense of safety and shared honesty, I don’t think I would have been able to go as deep as I did. Grateful for the people who held space for each other through the process.

Qigong in the high desert at Sedona Mago, guided by Tao Master Dahari Kronenberg.

This video is the practice the whole way through — slow, flowing movement with controlled breathing and steady attention. We did it outdoors in two settings: once by the lake, and once higher up with red rock and the wide desert landscape around us (Mago Mountain in the background).

Dahari teaches Qigong as a hands-on skill. He has more than 15 years of experience, holds a Black Belt in Dahnmudo, and is certified in Yoga Therapy. His style is clear and welcoming — serious about the work, but with kindness and humor that keeps people relaxed enough to stay with it.

This was about learning how to find energy, control it, and direct it — one movement at a time, in a landscape that makes you slow down and pay attention.
