K's Tip:

If you feel a cold coming or if you are feeling low, a Tulsi-Lemon tea is the way to go. This tea will boost your immunity levels!

Holy Basil (Ocimum sanctum) is another name for this super herb. My mother's best friend gifted me the Tulsi plant when I moved to California and now that little plant has grown into a little tree.

A Tulsi plant can be a great housewarming gift for folks with green thumbs.

Here in the US, you can find the LIVE plant or seeds on Amazon or specialty stores. But it is more readily available in dry form as tea bags, capsules and powder.

For the most part, herbal remedies are part of an oral family tradition that get passed on through generations. Some Tulsi tea remedies are lemon-forward, and others are focused more on the leaf. The tea is always consumed without any milk and sugar, and it contains no caffeine - All you taste is lemon and holy basil.

Tulsi is known to reduce stress and anxiety. It fights cold. It promotes health and well-being. It regulates blood sugar, is good for the heart and is great for immunity. The leaf by itself is hot and bitter but in the Indian culture, it is eaten raw and is often a part of daily Ayurvedic ritual.
